girlguidesBurrum Heads Girl Guides

We've heard many remarks from people that they didn't realise Girl Guides still existed or that there was even a group at Burrum Heads. This is now our seventh year where we meet once a week during the school term for 2 hours. Girls from 5 to 16years of age attend from Burrum Heads, Toogoom, Torbanlea and Howard.

We also participate in camps, outdoor activities (like archery, abseiling and canoeing) and community events. A recent example was Bicycle QLD inviting us to assist with the packing away of their tents at the end of their 9 day adventure ride from Woodford to Hervey Bay.

With many of the girls attending different schools in the area, Girl Guides provides the opportunity for them to catch up and make new friends. The program is designed to develop skills and build on strengths through a variety of fun and educational activities. A lot of the girls enjoy cooking and challenging themselves with new experiences. We have seen the girls grow into confident, skilled and responsible members.

Regards, Murrumba (Julie)
